Archaeology/Hominids
- Recently, we've been focusing on world geography to have a better understanding of where certain places are when we study various ancient civilizations. Small groups have worked to fill out a World Map. In the past, we've had students color the maps based on what may traditionally be colored in on a map (elevation, rainfall), but this year we are having students color their map based on areas of interest to them. Some of these topics include heritage of student's in 6th grade, where students have traveled, where major sports events have taken place and more! Next, we will focus on archaeology.
- During our first week of school we worked on the activity What Makes a Civilization. Students worked in groups to determine what criteria would make a civilization. Then, using that criteria, they created their own civilizations. These will be hanging up in the hallway during Open House! Make sure to ask your child which civilization was theirs.
